What Is the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA)?
The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) was organized in 1919 and is the oldest international organization devoted to investor protection.
NASAA is a voluntary association whose membership consists of 67 state, provincial, and territorial securities administrators in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the United States Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico.
In the United States, NASAA members work within the state governments to protect investors from fraud and help maintain the integrity of the securities industry.
These processes are conducted through licensing, registering, investigating complaints, enforcing laws, examining brokerage and investment advisor firms to ensure compliance of laws and maintenance of records; reviewing offerings exempt from state law; education investors about rights; advocating passage of strong, consistent securities laws and regulations.
