Our Firm

Long Wharf Investors image 3Organized in 1995, Long Wharf provides investment advice and portfolio management to individuals, families and trusts, non-profits and foundations, and pension and profit sharing plans for a fee based on assets under management.  Our firm practices a global multi cap style of investing and we use quantitative methods extensively in our securities selection process.

Our firm does not retain custody of securities and we have no affiliation with broker/dealers or other financial service providers.  Our firm offers independent investment advice and portfolio management tailored to the objectives and needs of each client.

Our Investment Services

From the beginning of a new client relationship, we work closely with each client to determine his or her specific investment objectives and goals.  We assist our clients in formulating goals and design a framework for analyzing their individual risk tolerance and return objectives.  We develop an investment program consistent with these needs and we provide regular assessments of each client’s portfolio performance.

  • Define Client Needs and Objectives

In the initial meetings with a client, we focus on needs analysis and develop a plan for meeting the client's investment objectives within prescribed risk tolerances.  As investment advisors, our firm is responsible for making investment decisions that meet the goals established by each client.

  • Construct Portfolios and Monitor Performance

We build portfolios for each client using the guidelines established in our initial meetings.  Selecting from a buy list of securities while carefully using diversification, we build the initial portfolio in stages suitable to the goals and risk tolerance of each client.  Each portfolio is individually managed and is reviewed continuously for quality and performance.

Our Philosophy

Long Wharf Investors image 1Our investment advice is tailored to the unique needs of each client.  The cornerstone of our philosophy is careful diversification and attention to investment planning for the long term.

Our strengths are in our professional experience, management flexibility, analytic independence, and utilization of disciplined methods for selecting securities and optimizing portfolios.

Our Process

We combine securities analysis with research to maximize the performance of each client's portfolio.  Beginning with a broad range of companies, we use computer models to identify quality investment opportunities with strong growth prospects.  We then follow up with fundamental research.

Diversified High Quality Universe of Equities

We use financial databases, quality screens, proprietary quantitative models and secondary research materials for our analytical work.  These components are integrated in a process to identify potential securities in a world of over 8,000 companies.

We believe a diversified portfolio built through disciplined stock selection and tilted toward growth sectors will maximize long-term returns.

Socially Responsible Investing

We offer social investing services for those clients wishing to achieve their financial objectives using social concern criteria.

  • Our investment process for this service includes further screening of qualifying equities following various social rating criteria.  Equities are selected from a database of over 1,000 companies that are analyzed on over 60 social benchmarks in 10 major issue areas.
  • Social investing incorporates the investor's ethical values in the investment decision-making process.  It is appropriate for clients wishing to affect corporate policies on environmental, employment and product issues including corporate governance.

We use our standard quantitative modeling process in conjunction with social screens to select stocks with above average return potential.
