Our Comprehensive Planning Approach

The core of good financial planning is a comprehensive assessment of your entire financial situation and an integrated plan set up to accomplish your goals.

Comprehensive plans intensively review all of the key areas of financial planning: cash management, risk management, taxation, financial independence, investments, and estate planning.  The result is a plan tailored to your unique financial picture.

The fee is based on our flat financial planning case fee, and will be adjusted up or down according to the complexity of your situation.

Portfolio Management

Focused Finances, LLC can analyze and re-build an existing portfolio, or help you to invest "from scratch."  We use a combination of open and closed end mutual funds, individual bonds, and other investment options to implement your plan.

The key to your portfolio design is your unique set of financial goals.  Portfolios are designed to meet these goals through the use of asset allocation to create a portfolio that gives you the best possible return for the amount of risk you can accept.

Your portfolio succeeds for you when it contributes to the achievement of your financial goals - our objective is to help you meet these goals, not to create maximum returns.  And these returns are achieved through a buy and hold philosophy, rather than chasing after trading profits.

Tax Preparation

Focused Finances provides Federal and state income tax preparation and planning services for individuals and small businesses, including fiduciary returns for estates and trusts.

We can help you analyze the tax impact of your investment portfolio transactions, stock option exercises (and any alternative minimum tax issues that may arise), and investment property activities.

For less than comprehensive work, planning fees are based on our hourly rate.  Together we will review your needs, and the complexity of the work to be done, and come up with a project estimate.

The resulting scope of the work can ranges from an hour or two of focused work on a single issue, or a broader look at several issues - for example, a thorough pre-retirement financial review - but will cover considerably less ground than a comprehensive plan.

Evaluation Meeting

It’s important to us that you make an informed decision about the professional advice you are about to seek! Therefore, I offer an evaluation meeting to prospective planning clients, to mutually decide if we would work well together.

This is an extensive meeting (at least an hour, if not more) in which we invite you to lay out all of your concerns, bringing any information along that would enhance our understanding of your situation.

In turn, I will explain my planning process and philosophy, discuss your situation with you and work with you to design the planning scope that would be appropriate for you. I charge a fee of $150 for this meeting; however, if you decide to engage my services this fee will be credited to your overall financial planning project fee.
