Aaron Hillman - Founder
Prior to pursuing a lifelong interest in investing as a Certified Financial Planner, Aaron Hillman had a successful 12-year career as an engineer in the semiconductor industry. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from OSU. He believes in comprehensive planning and meticulous attention to details. Approximately 25% of Aaron's clients are engineers.
Initially, Aaron studied investing so he could understand the best investment methodology for achieving his long-term personal goals. He founded and led an investment club for a number of years, developed a proprietary automated futures trading platform with a colleague, and helped friends and family develop personal investment plans.
In 2007 Aaron left engineering, and enrolled in the Executive Certificate Financial Planning program at the University of Portland Pamplin School of Business. He graduated in the top of his class, and went on to pass the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ exam. In July of 2008, he started his own independent investment advisory firm, Skyline Financial Northwest.
Financial Planning
As avid outdoorsmen, we’ve spent a lot of time in the Pacific Northwest backcountry. We know first hand that reaching your destination safely and enjoyably requires a plan — one that guides you to intelligently navigate through the myriad of possible routes, hazards and obstacles while staying pointedly committed to your end goal. We also recognize that the best plans evolve along your journey, adapting to unforeseen challenges, or shifting life priorities.
Similarly, we believe a personalized, comprehensive, dynamic Financial Plan can be your biggest ally to achieve your financial goals. More than advisors, we strive to earn a place as your trusted financial partner, helping you make the most intelligent and effective choices in alignment with your long-term goals.
Your Financial Plan Will Be:
- Personalized — As fee only planners, we are focused solely on helping you reach your financial objectives. We do not write Financial Plans that are designed to sell financial products (e.g. life insurance, annuities, long term care insurance).
- Comprehensive — Your plan should broadly address all of your financial needs and your financial dreams.
- Dynamic – Your Financial Plan should dynamically evolve with your needs, not gather dust on a shelf. We will invite you to meet with us annually to review your Financial Plan and make the adjustments needed to keep you on track to reach your goals.

Our Fee Schedule
One of the key principles of Intelligent Investing is to minimize expenses. In keeping with this philosophy we have set our fee structure to be fair to our clients, and extremely competitive in the market place. In order to keep our investment advisory fees low, we have chosen to charge separately for financial planning advice.
Investment Advisory Fees
We charge for investment advice as a percentage of assets under management on a monthly basis in arrears.
Account Assets less than $1,000,000 = Annual fee 0.9% (Subject to a $1,000 minimum per client. Minimum client aggregate account size is $50,000)
Account Assets between $1,000,000 and $2,000,000 = Annual fee 0.55%
Account Assets over $2,000,000 = 0.30%
Financial Planning Fees
We offer three separate ways to pay for Financial Planning.
